Super Bowl XLII – Patriots vs. Giants

It’s Super Bowl time! We’ve watched all the footage of Tom Brady and the “is it or isn’t?” sprained ankle. We’ve stocked the fridge with our Super Bowl snacks which in this house includes brats, chips and queso, and Oreos. Now, the question remains, just who will we root for on Sunday?

For most of the family, that answer is easy – it’s got to be the Giants. We love to root for the underdog around here. The Giants and Eli Manning are looking good with 10 straight road wins and lots of confidence going into Sunday’s game. They played well against the Patriots in the final game of the regular season, proving that they are not a team to be overlooked.

And yet, part of me won’t be too disappointed if the Patriots win their fourth Super Bowl. To finish 19-0 would be an amazing feat, and this team could definitely achieve that. Not to mention, I read a great article about wide receiver Wes Welker on ESPN.com the other day. I love to read “against all odds” success stories like this one, and would love to see such determination and hard work get rewarded.

Even if I can’t quite decide who to root for, one thing I do know is whatever the outcome of Sunday’s game, I will totally enjoy the experience of watching the game (and the commercials!) with my football-loving family.

NFL Playoffs: Who Will Go All the Way?

It’s our favorite time of year here at MySportsDecor.com: NFL Playoffs! This weekend brings the AFC and NFC Championship Games to determine who will play in Super Bowl 42.

The AFC Championship will bring the San Diego Chargers to Foxborough to battle the New England Patriots. Will the Chargers pull the huge upset and put an end to the Patriots’ perfect season? Ohio State Merchandise – We Still Love the Buckeyes

The Ohio State Buckeyes suffered another disappointing loss for the 2nd straight year in the BCS National Championship. But don’t give up hope, Buckeye fans. Ohio State stands to be in a really great position for the 2008 season since only 3 of this season’s starters were seniors.

I must be honest. If Ohio State had been playing anyone else besides my first-love Tigers last night, they would have had my support. My parents live in Columbus, Ohio, and my dad is a big Buckeyes fan. He called last night just prior to kickoff and let me know all of the Ohio State merchandise he was sporting around the house. And being the loving daughter that I am, I have not even called yet this morning to gloat.

If you’re a die-hard Buckeyes fan like my dad, stock up on your own Ohio State Buckeyes merchandise. Two of my favorite products are the Ohio State Riddell Replica Mini Helmet and the Ohio State/Michigan Rivalry Flag. The latter is a great item for the household with Wolverine and Buckeye fans living under the same roof.

BCS National Championship – LSU Tigers vs. Ohio State Buckeyes

Monday Night brings us the much-anticipated BCS National Championship Game in New Orleans. In one of the craziest college football seasons in recent history, the championship finally comes down to #2 LSU Tigers versus #1 Ohio State Buckeyes.

LSU is the first two-loss team to play for the National Championship. Both of their losses this season came in triple-overtime games, the first to Kentucky and the second to Arkansas. So, as their coach Les Miles stated when making a case for LSU to play for the title, LSU is undefeated in regulation.

Ohio State’s only loss this season was to then unranked Illinois. This is their 2nd straight season to play for the National Championship, but they are certainly hoping this year turns out better than last year when they lost to the underdog Florida Gators.

In our house, there is no question of who we will be cheering for. We’re all Tiger fans through and through. In fact, our 11 year old son’s room is decked out entirely in purple and gold, and the LSU fight song can be found on his i-Pod. So on Monday night, we’ll all sport our Tiger shirts, wave our pennants and tiger paws, and forget that it’s a school night. Geaux Tigers!
